Month Long Challenge

I will be the first to admit that I have been the worst blogger ever created as of late.  I had the best time blogging last summer while I was doing Little Mermaid and for some reason life happened and I just couldn’t push myself to blog.  I’ve tried to get back into the swing of the things.  I’ve created over 50 draft titles but every time I look at them I don’t feel inspired.  Since I like to use this as a stress relief I didn’t want to invest time in it if my heart wasn’t there.  So instead I have found some challenges of things that my heart loves…movies, music and Disney.  I have decided to get myself excited about writing again I am going to combine 3 challenges to make me happy to post again.

So here we go Day 1.

Movie Challenge:  Last Movie You Watched

Fantastic-Beasts-And-Where-to-Find-Them

The last movie I watched was Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them.  I waited to watch this one until it came out on DVD because I just wasn’t sure if I was going to like.  I love the world of Harry Potter so much and after reading the Cursed Child and being a little disappointed I didn’t want that feeling with this too.  Luckily I didn’t feel that disappointment when I finished this movie.  I thought the acting was amazing especially Eddy Redmayne.  It still felt like the Harry Potter world but it has its own character to it.  I like the era its set in.  I loved the fashion of the time period.  I love the New York characters.  I wish they would have ventured into the magic a little more but with several sequels coming out I think they can do that.   I give this one 4 stars!

Music Challenge:  A Song From Your Childhood

If you are going to have me pick a song from my childhood it has to be something from a show I loved as a child.  When I was little there was a show called Sharon, Lois and Bramm.  I can not tell you anything about them except that they sang a song with and elephant.  They finished every show with the same song and it had little hand motions that went along with it.  If I hear this it automatically takes me back to sitting in the living room at my Mawmaws with no pants hamming it up.download

Check out the video of the song and see if you remember too!

Disney Challenge:  Favorite Movie

fwb_little-mermaid_20160208

There can be no question what my favorite Disney movie is.  Nothing will ever compare to the love I have for Ariel.  I dreamed of being a mermaid.  I cried when I got to play one on stage.  I still think Prince Eric is the most handsome cartoon there ever was.  I still wish that Terry had proposed to me with Kiss the Girl playing in the background.  For me there is literally nothing better.

Sorting Hat

When working in a school office sometimes the summer can bring along a lot of downtime.  This is especially true when you work with sports, which are all out of season, and accounting, which is nearing the end of the fiscal year.  Downtime pretty much equals boredom at this point.  We have 3 to 5 girls in the office during the summer and we’ve spent our days discussing different topics.  One thing we have found that most of us have in common is Harry Potter.  We range from those that are just reading the series now to those of us that have a full on obsession.  In our discussion we talked about what house we think we belong in.  We decided to all get on the Pottermore website and check it out.  https://www.pottermore.com/

I have always associated myself with Ravenclaw.  However in my old age it seems as though my character and personality has changed to Gryffindor.  I was not very happy about this.  Especially since every other person in the room took the same quiz and all made it into Ravenclaw.  I even went so far as to take several other online quizzes to find out my house and low and behold it seems as though I am for sure a Gryffindor.

The main characteristics of a Gryffindor are as follows:  Brave, Courageous, Chivalrous, Daring and Bold.  To me at least, these characteristics could not be any farther than the truth.  I am afraid of everything.  I’m scared to basically do anything and I very seldom take risk.  I don’t know what Pottermore is thinking.

This did get me thinking though.  I get along incredibly well with my coworkers but our personality are so different.  I guess it takes a good mixture of personalities to work together.

So rather than reject my house I will celebrate Gryffindor.  After all it is the house of Harry Potter himself.  What will the hat choose for you?

Not Just for the Average Emo Anymore

In high school there was a certain store at the mall that you didn’t really venture into unless you were part of the emo crowd.  These days Hot Topic has turned more from the emo youth into the land of fangirling and geek.  No matter if you are fan of a band, Star Wars, superheros or even Disney they have something there for the geek in all of us.  I myself have spent a good bit of time there while preparing to Disney Bound or just to find fun new socks.  I’ve successfully purchased all kinds of fun stuff.

If Star Wars is your thing there are some cool options for you there.

Maybe you like Harry Potter…

or you could be into superheros

No matter what your favorite geeky thing is you can probably find it at this store.  Take a chance and step into there next time you are in the mall.  I bet you will be pleasantly surprised at what you will find inside.

Day 24: A Website I LOVE

I love all things crafty.  So naturally I love etsy.com.  There are so many things you can get from this site.  From jewelery to phone case to monogrammed anything to purses its pretty much got it all.  I have ordered many things from this website.  I got a sea turtle fertility bracelet, lockets for my sisters-in-law for Christmas, nautical jewelry to Disney Bound as Mr. Smee and Ellie Badges from the movie Up for Terry and I when we went to Disney World.  Whats even better is that I have now learned to favorite things I like so that my husband knows exactly what to get when a holiday rolls around.

I recently searched the website for fun and found lots of things I would love to purchase.  Most of them having something to do with my inner geeky sides love of all things literary and silly.

*Terry recently introduced me to the awesome world of Star Wars.  My favorite characters are the Ewoks.  Who wouldn’t want to have this Ewok pillow*

*This week we’ve been having a Harry Potter marathon.  I know I haven’t been officially sorted and all but I like to think of myself as a Ravenclaw.  This replica of Ravenclaw’s diadem would fit perfectly in my cheesey jewelery collection*

*When I was in high school my best friend and I would watch the same Friends episode over and over again.  The one where Pheobe says that Ross and Rachel are each others lobster.  We were famous for using that quote and this print would match perfectly in my house*

*My favorite ride at Disney World is probably the Haunted Mansion.  There are 99 happy haunts there but my favorite is a portrait in the stretching room of the lady on the tightrope.  Yep I need this phone case*
